Description
*EDIT* Filled out Masozi's markings in the correct color, and got a bit of a start on his secondary markings. I have a ton to do still xD but this was a good way to de-stress for a while as opposed to ripping my hair out. I also added a bit of the background-to-be. Please let me know what you think!!
I was inspired by ~theDarkessLight to work on my recreation of Masozi~ She posted this this: [link] which totally made me smile, and so I decided to doodle this in class today; then put some quick lines and marking references on it when I got home. There is still a lot to add, but I wanted to show everone 'Sozi's new look so far.
When I looked back at his old design, I realized he was basically a human with a snake tail grafted to the bottom of his torso, and I really want to challenge that. I love the concept of Nagas, but I wanted to make mine a little more animal-like. It will be more obvious as I go along, but I really tried to incorporate more snake like elements all over him. The profile of his face is almost flat, he doesn't have good vision, and the reason he's sticking out his tongue isn't to insult someone, but to smell the air and examine his surroundings. His skin is also scaly like his tail, and will be colored by his markings in the same manner.
I'm trying to work out boa constrictor coloration on him - please let me know if you have an idea to adjust the markings. They're going to be a lot more distorted as I go, becoming more irregular on the edges. His tail is extremely long, and I'll be trying to add a few loops hanging down from whatever he's wrapped around, which I'm still deciding on.
The current title is Masozi's nickname; he's like a babysitter to the human children in the village he lives in. He was abandoned and disowned by his tribe rather early in his life, so he typically hates other nagas, and viciously protects humans when they are threatened. The reason they call him Ss'sozi is because of a speech impediment granted by his thin, snake like tongue. He has an extended lisp, and often overcompensates when he speaks, leading to a stutter. The kids, of course, clung on to the way he said his own name (which sounds like "Mass'sozizzi"), and either call him Ss'sozi, or 'Sozi.
And just in case it surfaces; he is not a voraphile. He doesn't see any sense in preying on humans because they would be too small to fill him up without annihilating a village, with no real challenge to capture them (at least in his mind, because rare is the human that runs away from him, aside from the thieves and thugs he chases off from time to time). He was also raised by humans, and cannot justify hurting them in any way on purpose unless they intend to hurt him or his friends.
Anyway, let me know if you have any suggestions, I'm going to try and work on this over the weekend. So I'd love to hear what you all think!
