Dante's Inferno - Descent into Cocytus

I thought I'd post this piece I put together awhile ago for my AP English class.

If you haven't read Dante's Inferno, when Dante nears the end of the last bolgia of the eighth circle of hell, he and the spirit of human reason, Virgil must be lowered into Cocytus, the final part of hell by Antaeus, one of the legendary giants. In the Inferno the giants are banished to hell to guard Cocytus because of their nature as pure brute strength and "evil will" gifted with intelligence. Antaeus is the only giant not chained up, as he did not assist the other giants in a rebellion against the gods.

So, I made a partial gray-scale piece with Antaeus there in the back, and Dante (right) and Virgil (left) up front after being placed into the first part of Cocytus.

I really enjoyed this project; it consisted of this drawing, an animation, and a summary of a few Cantos of the book; it was my first time using Copic markers, and I adore them... if only they weren't so expensive...
